I just wanted to start off by saying thank you for 800 followers! When I started Breeny’s Books, I had no idea that it’d ever be this big or that I’d enjoy blogging this much. Thank you everyone for the comments and the support. I greatly greatly appreciate it.
Today I wanted to discuss blogger-reader/follower interactions. In the summer, I would specifically spend thirty minutes to an hour blog hopping and commenting on other book bloggers post, and have conversations in the comments with my readers. Now, because school is in session, I don’t have the time to do this as often as I’d like. However, I still want to keep building and maintaining strong conversations between myself and you all, even though I don’t have as much time as I do during the summer.
So I wanted to open it up to my fellow book bloggers: how you interact with your readers? I look forward to the discussion below.
As always,
Happy reading, happy writing, and happy blogging!
You could just schedule a time once a week where you catch up on blogs and comment? Commenting is super important, not only to keep conversations going but also to give new readers a chance to see you and maybe follow you.

Thank you for the suggestion! I try to respond to each week’s comment at the end of that weekend, but I’m I want to try to be a bit more active. I do agree that commenting is extremely vital to blogging. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Congrats on the 800 followers! I tend to spend about an hour or so going through my WordPress Reader and commenting on blogs I follow. I also try to look up at least 5 blogs I don’t follow and reach out to them too. This is a hard habit to keep up and I go in spurts with it… I’m trying to be better with it though.

Thank you! Good luck with bettering the habit, but your plan and what you currently do is already super awesome. You’re always commenting, and I really appreciate that. =)

Congratulations on 800 followers!!! You definitely deserve this 🙂 I comment and a lot of my interaction with my blog readers is actually through Twitter

Thank you so much ❤ And I find that to be a similar case for me as well. Maybe it's because Twitter is more social of a platform?

I reply to all comments on my blog, but I’m often not very timely, and I feel bad about that. When I first started blogging and had more free time, I would click over to other people’s blogs and try to read their posts and comments. Sadly, I just don’t have time to do that now. I do have a group of people who follow my blog, and I follow their blogs, so I try to comment on their posts once a week or so. I am always reading, but I don’t always have time to comment on everything.

I feel this way as well! I try to answer all of a week’s comments each weekend. But during the summer I did that daily. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and taking the time to comment on my post. =)

I struggle with a similar problem! I don’t have a solution though. Looking forward to whatever someone else might comment🙂

Oo, good question! I have to admit, I’m not always the best with blogger/reader interaction, I still feel like a novice in this area! I reply to all comments on my blog, usually with a bit of detail and specifically replying to what they say (not just a simple thanks). If they are new then I will always check out their blog too. Other than that I tend to check my ‘reader’ list every few days (or once a week minimum), and do what I can during the weekend. I’m still a fairly small blogger so this works for me, but I can see how much harder it can be as you get more likes, comments and follows!!

Thank you for sharing! This is exactly what I do now, so that’s really awesome to hear. I’m going to try to check out my list a bit more often. I love commenting on other blogs, but I need to make more time for it. Again, thanks for commenting and have an awesome week!

Congrats on your followers! I was doing the same thing each day with liking and commenting on the other blogs I follow, and then I got behind. Now I am catching back up on 1000+ blog emails. I always make sure I like and answer comments left on my blog, and when I am caught up on blog subscription emails, I go through them daily and comment. Other than that, I don’t have any other ideas on how too keep up. When you don’t like and comment on other blogs your stats tend to go way down (mine do anyway) so besides it being important to keep communication up and to show support to blog friends, it is also important if you rely on your stats for any reason. I will have to keep an eye on your comments on this post to see if anyone else offers good advice. 🙂 Great post!

Thank you so much! I agree, and I’ve noticed the same thing with my stats as well. My stats tend to suffer during the school year, but I’ve come to accept that. I hope you gleaned something from the comments, and as always, thank you for commenting!

I take a little bit of time out every day and blog hop. It is fun reading blog posts and getting a unique perspective from the blogger. I sometimes find myself spending too much time blog hopping though, and then I don’t get other things done.

I had that probably in the summer as well, but now that school’s in it’s like the reverse. Thank you for sharing!

Blog hopping is so difficult when school is back in session! I completely understand your struggles. I’m trying to just make time every day to read a few posts in my reader and bloglovin, because otherwise they’ll just stack up and it’s a lot more daunting, and then if I have time (and energy haha) left I’ll blog hop to blogs I don’t know, but it’s hard! Right now I’m doing pretty well again, but I wonder how long that will last haha. Good luck!
