Summer 2017 Goals!

Summer 2017 Goals

By the time this post goes up, I’ll be finishing up my last exam of the school year. That means summer, and summer means writing! I have a lot of goals for this summer that I wanted to share, so here we go!

  • WRITE

I haven’t drafted anything new at all this year. I’ve done some brainstorming for ‘Summer Novel’ for the past few months, but my priority has been finishing the school year strong. But since school is out *breaks into High School Musical* I can now make writing my priority. June will be focused on outlining and further brainstorming, and then in July I’ll be participating in Camp Nanowrimo. I’ve done July Camp Nanowrimo for the past three years so it’s a summer tradition for me. My goal is to finish the first draft of ‘Summer Novel’ before the end of August.

  • READ

I’m currently 4 books behind on my Goodreads goal, which all things considered isn’t that bad for me. Last year I completed my Goodreads goal of reading 100 books in 2016. This year I lowered my goal to 75 books, mostly because of school. So I’m planning to catch up and do a lot of reading and book reviewing. If you all have any book suggestions, be sure to leave them in the comments!

  • BLOG

I’m going to keep posting every Monday and Thursday during the summer. I’m also going to try to participate in more book and writing tags, and just continue to immerse myself in the community.

  • BOOKSTAGRAM

I’m planning on revamping my Bookstagram. It’s fallen a bit by the wayside because it’s not possible for me to post every day due to school. I’m going to try to post more consistently and immerse myself more in the Bookstagram community as well.

  • BULLET JOURNALING

I’m slightly obsessed with bullet journaling, and I really want to start trying it this summer. I think the system has to the potential to help with my organization, especially for next school year. Plus, it just looks extremely fun so I’m going to give it a try.

  • LIFE STUFF

And of course, even though school is over there are still school related things that I need to do. Job stuff, driving stuff, standardized testing stuff. Not much fun compared to writing and reading, but still important things that I need to get done during the summer.

Overall, I’m super excited to start working towards my goals.

What are everyone’s summer goals? Share them below!

Have a wonderful day!

    1. You get to choose your wordcount goal as well. You can also choose to measure yourself in terms of pages or time, if you don’t want to do words written. I’m going to write a post all about Camp Nano so look out for that, and let me know if you have any more questions.

  1. That’s great that you have some summer goals! Always good to aim towards something.
Reading 100 books in a year is amazing!! Kudos! They say that reading often is key to writing well πŸ™‚
I am working through the summer so I don’t have too much time. My goals are simple:
    1) finish the 4th draft of my novel
    2) blog consistently (right now I’m doing tues, wed, thur and Sunday. We’ll see how that goes!)
    3) start world building for my new nanowrimo novel in November
    4) get through my (long and growing) tbr. So much to read and so little time πŸ™‚

    Best wishes with camp nano!

    Cheers,
    Sophie

  2. Great post, Breeny! You seem to have everything pretty much under control hahaha
It’s tough to have such a busy schedule, especially during the summer, so good luck!
I’ve been thinking about trying my hand at bullet journaling. It sounds super fun and creative πŸ™‚

    1. I know! Juggling school reading and for-fun reading can be a bit of a stress sometimes. My biggest tip would be to try to read at least 10 pages of a for-fun book before going to bed. And there’s still six months left in the year. You’ve totally got this!!

  3. Ooh these sound like great summer goals!! GOOD LUCK. I need to get on top of my bullet journalling too (aka do anything so it’s not a nonexistent voidπŸ˜‚) and there are always so so many books to read, eeeep.

    1. I feel like that’s going to be the hardest part about bullet journaling for me: letting mistakes go. I’m really glad that you enjoy bullet journaling! Now I know who to turn to for advice once I start. =)

  4. Oh my gosh! We have SO MANY goals in common. Improve bookstagram, i bullet journal too, and blog more. I do NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) in November. 100 books is amazing, Sonia 75, you are my hero. My summer reading goal is to read 1-2 hours or 50 pages from two book each day. Best of luck with your goals, I’m rooting for you!

      1. Thank you! I need it! Hehe πŸ˜‰ I love bj’ing, I just have to get in the routine of using it. I’ll spend all this time setting it up and then forget to use it everyday! πŸ™ˆ I love MaBloPoMo , I’m more of a blogger than writer and it totally motivates me to blog everyday, it’s great!

  5. I’m participating in Camp NaNoWriMo, too!!! I LOVE Camp! I’ve done April’s program for the past two years (won both times, WOO!), so that’s sort of my Spring tradition. XD I also tried July’s session last year, and then failed expertly. XD OH WELL!

Oh my word, I would LOVE to be able to read 75 books in a year! Sadly, my goal is a measly 25 right now, haha! And I’m also miserably behind… #oops

    1. I’m behind on my goal as well, but we both still have time. A goal is a goal and progress is progress, no matter how small. Keep me updated on how Camp Nanowrimo goes for you next month! I’d love to hear.
